About Haystacker
Haystacker is a free needle in a haystack game you can play online, right in your browser. Grandpa Hank has dropped his lucky needle into a giant haystack: 1,000,000 straws, and somewhere inside, one tiny needle. Dig the hay away, sell it at the wagon, buy better tools and keep digging until you find it. The pile really shrinks as you go. Every scoop takes a bite out of the stack, loose hay slides into the holes you dig, and the fresh, lighter hay shows where you have already searched.
You start with your bare hands. Sell your first wagon of hay and buy a pitchfork, then a hay rake, a leaf blower and a hay vacuum that sucks up hay by the bucketful. Upgrade your strength, speed and reach, get a bigger wagon, and hire Biscuit the horse to sell your hay for you. Later you can buy a big magnet that pulls anything metal out of the hay, a metal detector that beeps faster the closer you point to the needle, and up to three little drones that dig on their own.
Find the needle to open the next haystack: Grandpa's Haystack on a sunny farm (1,000,000 straws), The Big Barn (3,000,000), the Spooky Night Stack with jack-o'-lanterns and friendly ghosts (5,000,000), and Mount Haystack at the county fair (10,000,000). The hay hides other surprises too: gold coins, a rubber duck, Grandpa's glasses, a golden egg and even a grumpy hen taking a nap. There are 28 kinds of finds to collect in your finds book.
Stuck? Look for a glint between the straws, watch the chicken that loves shiny things, or ask Grandpa for a hint. After your first needle you can play the Daily Needle, where everyone gets the same stack and the same needle each day, or Hardcore mode with nothing but your hands. Haystacker is a free find the needle game with no download and no sign-up, so you can play this haystack game online on phones, tablets, laptops and Chromebooks. Your progress, even a half-dug haystack, saves automatically.

Tips for Haystacker
Dig where it glints
A tiny star twinkling in the hay means the needle (or something gold) is just under the surface. Dig right there.
Watch the critter
Once enough hay is gone, a chicken that loves shiny things hangs around near the needle. Dig where it pecks.
Upgrade your wagon early
When the wagon is full you can't dig. A bigger wagon, or Biscuit the horse, keeps you digging.
Go deep, not just wide
The needle is buried deep. Dig holes down into the stack instead of only skimming the top.
Detector, then magnet
Follow the detector's beeps until it says Hot, then tap the magnet there to pull the needle out.
Frequently asked questions
Is Haystacker free to play?
Yes. Haystacker is a free needle in a haystack game that plays in your browser. There's nothing to download, no account to make and nothing to buy: every tool and upgrade is bought with coins you earn by selling hay in the game.
What is a needle in a haystack game?
It's a game built on the old saying: one tiny needle is hidden somewhere in a giant pile of hay, and your job is to find it. Needle in a haystack games took off in late summer 2026 after a viral video, and now there are find the needle games on Roblox, Steam and the web. Most share the same idea: dig the hay away, sell it, buy faster tools and keep going until the needle turns up. Haystacker is our version for the browser, with four haystacks, gadgets like a metal detector and a magnet, clues for the end of the hunt and a Daily Needle.
How do you find the needle in the haystack?
Dig, and follow the clues. When only a little hay covers the needle, it glints between the straws. Once you've cleared part of the stack, a chicken (or a crow) that loves shiny things starts pecking around near the needle. After a few minutes you can ask Grandpa for a hint. Later, the metal detector beeps faster the closer you point to the needle, and the magnet pulls it out when you're close. The map in the corner shows where you've already dug.
How long does it take to find the needle?
Most players find the first needle in 10 to 15 minutes. With a bit of luck it can take 2. The later haystacks are bigger (up to 10,000,000 straws on Mount Haystack), but your tools get much better too. Your best time for every stack is saved, so you can replay any stack to beat it.
Can I play Haystacker on my phone?
Yes. Touch and hold the hay to dig, drag the sky or the grass (or use the turn buttons) to look around, and pinch to zoom. It works held upright or sideways, on phones and tablets as well as on computers with a mouse.
Is Haystacker unblocked?
Haystacker is an ordinary web page on zoomygames.com with nothing to download or install, so it runs on school Chromebooks and work laptops as well as at home. Whether it opens on your network is up to whoever runs it: if your school or office blocks game sites, it will be blocked like any other game. Please play when you're allowed to.
What is the Daily Needle?
Once you've found your first needle, the Daily Needle opens. Every day there's a new stack of 300,000 straws with the needle hidden in the same spot for everyone, and everyone gets the same pitchfork and rake. Find it as fast as you can, keep your streak going, and earn a coin reward for your farm. Your best time is saved for each day.
Is Haystacker OK for kids?
Yes. It's a cozy farm game: no violence, no chat, no sign-up and nothing to buy. The spooky night stack has jack-o'-lanterns and friendly cartoon ghosts that say boo, but nothing scary.
Does Haystacker save my progress?
Yes. Your coins, tools, upgrades, finds and trophies, and even the haystack you were digging, save automatically in the browser you play in, so you can stop any time and carry on later. Clearing your browser data resets the game.
